~UPDATE~Well, Cleo isnt doing good. Things started going downhill yesterday afternoon. I have a farm call in for a vet visit. It is hard to get someone out this far and I am still waiting by the phone to find out who may be coming or what I need to do next. We tried taking her in last night, but that probably would have ended up in her hurting the baby. After a few near fatal attempts in the pitch dark to get them in a trailer w/only car headlights as an aid, we decided that wasnt going to work. Mind you she loaded, then it got dangerous!! Afterbirth looks to be all out (I have pics), no fever, but pain in nursing, really tired and wanting to lay down all the time. May be colic, but she is passing poo and it is fresh alfalfa poo. She did eat yesterday. not interested in eating this morning. Took vital signs, etc...nothing to far out of range. On the bright side, the foal is doing great! We are calling him Buck. All he does is buck, practically came out bucking, lol! He was all over me this morning. I place a chair as close to Cleos front legs as possible and sat in it rubbing her for her comfort. He came up and muzzled my face, then it was on. He would back up to me so I could scratch his hinny and the whole time he would buck in place. But, he didnt move away. He would get right up where I could take both hands and scratch both sides of his neck at the same time. While doing that, he would nibble all over me. I will give another update when I can finally get someone out her.
