UPDATE on odie! Well the vet visit didnt go all that well. Odie is now on prescription renal dog food (which he loves). He has nothing wrong with his mouth, so we dont know why he bled and had the clot. With his blood work and high numbers for renal (kidney) failure, its not good. At this point he only has 3/4 of kidney function. Or 25% working. 75% has already deteriorated. He isnt in complete renal failure but he is declining. Some dogs can tolerate these levels (he has but we dont know how long), others cant. As long as he is eating, urinating, drinking and being himself, he is ok. But eventually he will go into complete renal failure. He can deteriorate in 2 weeks, 6 months or on an optimistic amount of time, 18 months. I am not ready today to accept this. He has been my baby for 13 years. Even before I had Brooklin. Im devastated. I am trying to have faith that Ill get more time than expected. Ill know when he gets bad. At this point he is spunky little odie and doing just fine. Prayers are appreciated. Im not handling this well at all. Its extra hard not having my grandma to lean on and cry to.
