UPND MP’s are a bunch of backbenchers and failures with nothing to show off – Dr. Edify Hamukale August 11, 2013 | Filed under: Statements | Posted by: ZIN Edify HApart from tribal and ethnic loyalty by the people of Southern province, the UPND cannot show us any performance related justification for its continued dominance of Southern province politics. Not only MPs are being held hostage by the UPND as correctly observed by PF Secretary General Hon Wynter Kabimba, but also electorates have been held hostage by the UPND. How many Clinics, schools, teachers’ houses, youth projects, women projects, dams, dip tanks, roads and other development projects has the UPND initiated and completed since 2001? The UPND has perfectly managed to accelerate poverty, illiteracy, hunger, cattle deaths, turning previously all-weather roads into seasonal rivers, neglecting women and youth empowerment in Southern province. At best, the UPND has managed to halt or stagnate development through failing to even renovate old infrastructure in schools, agriculture camps, and health centers. Deep in their hearts, they know that they have continually cheated the people of southern province and we will not sit and watch whilst the province is perpetually being isolated from the rest of the country through sugar coated bitter-pill promises by the UPND. They don’t own southern province. Presidents Mwanawasa, Rupiah Banda and incumbent Michael Sata all tried to work with the UPND but were all rejected by the HH led declining party. Is the UPND telling us that all these presidents are not good people to work with? This is pure selfishness at the expense of National integration. When I look through the current crop of MPs in the UPND, there is not a single politician who can match the patriotism and caliber of Elijah Mudenda, Kirby Musokotwane, Mainza Chona and Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula. The only politician amongst the serving MPs is Hon Daniel Munkombwe. I wish to thank His Excellency the Presdent Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata and Hon Kabimba, for appointing that humble servant of the people, Mr. Munkombwe , to help reconnect the people of Southern province to the rest of the country. Bravo also to Honorable Siamunene and Honorable Monde for accepting to serve the people of Zambia under PF. The rest of the MPs in UPND are political amateurs who have no national appeal. A bunch of backbenchers from the year 2001 in parliament is not a record to be proud of because that is what the UPND has specialized in.
