UQFC Girls Development Team Trials for 2014 UQFC has always had a strong tradition of senior women’s and junior girls teams (both as UQFC and Kenmore FC) but now wishes to take this to an even higher level. In 2013 UQFC had over 200 girls playing in junior teams with the majority playing in “girl only” competitions. In 2014 it plans become a major force in women and girls soccer including the fielding of a team in the new Football Brisbane Women’s Premier League. The aim is to produce a training program for girls comparable to the one UQFC has successfully developed for its boys playing in the Junior Brisbane Premier League and we will use the same “UQFC Way” philosophy, which is based on the latest version of the FFA National Curriculum. The teams will be composite age groups of players of similar skill level. The U15 Girls Development Team will be comprised of girls born in 1999/2000 and the U13 team girls born in 2001/2002/2003. Trials will be held on four successive Saturdays at Cubberla Creek Reserve (Akuna Oval), Chapel Hill: Saturday 26th October. 4pm – 5:15pm? Saturday 2nd November 4pm – 5:15pm? Saturday 9th November 4pm – 5:15pm? Saturday 16th November 4pm – 5:15pm The selection process will consist of a structured series of individual, paired, small sided and practice game exercises with the selection panel including the new Junior Director of Coaching (Girls), Women’s Premier League Head Coach and prospective Girls Development Team Coaches under the overall supervision of Remo Buess the UQFC Director of Football. Girls may be assured that players will be selected on merit. Applications are strongly encouraged from ALL girls wishing to improve as players and to develop a life-long love of the game whether they are existing UQFC players or not.
