The amendments that were added by the conference committee to HB1439 are now being offered as amendments to HB1539 (castle doctrine) and could be offered to any other moving legislation. You need to CALL members of the Missouri Senate NOW. ALWAYS BE POLITE! Tell their staff that you oppose ANY proposed expansion of the firearm possession ban. Tell them that the issuance of a Civil Order (protection) should NOT be able to turn someone into a criminal felon. Tell them that the misdemeanor language is so broad that it could ban firearm possession for people who got into a shouting match 40 years ago. Tell them that you OPPOSE adding these provisions to HB1539 or any other pending legislation. Tell them that you want these provisions removed from HB1439. Keep it short.
