URGENT NOTICE to all the residents of EDENVALE, SENDERWOOD, LINKSFIELD, SUNNINGDALE, GLENHAZEL, and SANDRINGHAM from the Rietfontein Heritage Action Group. If ever there was a time for residents to stand together on an issue, this is it! There is going to be the single MOST IMPORTANT MEETING regarding the controversial housing development earmarked for the RIETFONTEIN HOSPITAL land this Wednesday. Lets us all drag this dreadful threat into the centre of our community and and attack it with all our might. Edenvale and the surrounding areas will not be the target of any such proposals now or ever. This meeting will be held at the Edenvale Chambers on the corner of Van Riebeeck ave and Hendrick Potgieter street this Wednesday evening 10 September at 7pm sharp. We have asked Heather Hart and Bill Randle to prepare themselves ahead for the anticipated large number of objectors that will attend. John Busser will be doing a presentation. He is the representative of Urban Dynamics which is the proposed development Company. Please be sure of your facts as we believe this will be their drive to persuade you that all will be well. We cannot stress enough that it is of utmost importance that you all attend. Please forward this information on to as many people as possible as our numbers will speak volumes. Please arrive armed with the information you need to protect your properties, your families, the unsuspecting people destined to inhabit the land and your Town. Thank you all for your commitment and your support we include some additional information below Rietfontein Heritage Action Group Additional information Remember that those who have the facts at hand know that this development bears no resemblance to Melrose Arch other than it is for mixed use. In addition Melrose Arch was not built on top of a graveyard with apparent low risk. Remember that even low risk is not no risk. The Community and construction workers should be protected from any risk at all. We have evidence of 7000 graves they will only admit to less than 2000 which they will make into features. The rest will be built over as they definitely cannot be located. Also remember that this is not Low Income Housing. Please do not use that terminology as they will deny it. It is Affordable or Social housing and will comprise of 50% of the housing portion. There will be 8400 living units. The difference is that Affordable Housing requires that the people will need to have some income in order to afford the properties as they will be bonded properties. The targeted incomes are between R3500 per month and R15000 per month. How will these people react when they discover that they are bonded to the properties that are built over the resting places of their ancestors and what will the resulting impact be on the Financial Institutions that finance these properties?
