US Film Premiere Eco de la montaña (Echo of the mountain): Dir. Nicolás Echevarría 2013, Mexico Echo of the Mountain (Eco de la montana) takes a look at the life and work of Santos de la Torre, a great Huichol artist who, like his people, lives in oblivion. Despite having made a magnificent mural for the metro station, Palais Royal-Musee du Louvre, Santos lives in isolation and is ignored by his country. FICG in LA brings the best of contemporary Mexican and Ibero-American cinema from the Guadalajara International Film Festival. FICG in LA takes place Sept 4-7 at the Egyptian Theatre, (6712 Hollywood Blvd.) FICG in LA is presented by the University of Guadalajara Foundation in USA and CONACULTA with Principal Sponsors University of Guadalajara, the Guadalajara International Film Festival, the Institute of Cinema Mexico (IMCINE) and UNIVISIO SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2014 - 11:00 AM EGYPTIAN THEATRE (6712 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA) This documentary follows his pilgrimage to Wirikuta, where he asks the gods for permission to make a new mural. During his journey across 385 miles ofPeyote Route, Santos begins his creative process and decides on his new mural, which aims to illustrate the history, mythology, and religious tradition of the Huichol people.
