US-led coalition won’t be able to eradicate ISIL: Cleric A - TopicsExpress

US-led coalition won’t be able to eradicate ISIL: Cleric A prominent Iraqi Sunni cleric says the US-led coalition formed to fight the ISIL will not be able to eradicate the Takfiri terrorist group. “Dropping bombs from planes will not eliminate the terrorism of the so-called Daesh,” said Iraqi Sunni cleric Sheikh Abdel Malik al-Saadi, who resides in the Jordanian capital, Amman, using an Arabic acronym for the ISIL. The US-led bombing campaign against the ISIL began on August 8 in Iraq; and since late September, the US and its Arab allies have been conducting airstrikes against ISIL positions inside Syria as well, without any authorization from Damascus or a UN mandate. Saadi also warned that the US-led coalition must “revise its positions because the situation will get worse across the world.” US President Barack Obama authorized airstrikes on ISIL targets in Iraq in mid-August. Yahya al-Kubaisi, a consultant for the Amman-based Iraqi Centre for Strategic Studies, also called for political unity in Iraq to face the threat from the Takfiri group. Unless a political agreement is achieved among all Iraqis, “we will not be able to beat Daesh, and even if we succeed, another group will emerge -- another Daesh,” al-Kubaisi said. Iraq has faced brutal violence by the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group across the country’s north and west since early June. The ISIL terrorists have threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians during their advances in Iraq.
