USA Debt Ceiling and World Finance 4 আমেরিকা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ঋণসীমা এবং বিশ্ব অর্থব্যবস্থা ৪ The Democrats won the Congress vote over the re-opening of the US Government. But 144 Republican senators voted against the bill. 144 Republican senators wanted to keep the USS government shut down !!!! Just think about this. The 144 Republican senators of USA wanted to keep the US government shut and thus wished to pave the way to cause USS government default on Debt Payment. Why do I care ??? Why am I concerned as a non-USA citizen ? Well, the whole world was under great stress because of US fiscal Impasse. Even the country like Sri Lanka was preparing for the consequences of economic turmoil in case USA defaults on its Debt payment. Because USA is the supplier of Dollar that is the currency for international Trade. Dollar is the currency that every country in the world needs to keep as Reserve currency including Bangladesh. Dollar is the currency onto which all the currencies of the world are pegged (directly or indirectly). Therefore what will happen to those countries if the Dollar collapses because of this default and ongoing shut down ? The poor garment worker of Bangladesh will be affected. Now shouldnt I care about USS government Shutdown and risk of Debt default ? ১৬ অক্টোবর আমেরিকার কংগ্রেস-এ অনুষ্ঠিত ভোটাভুটিতে ডেমোক্র্যাটদের বিজয়ের ফলে আমেরিকা যুক্তরাষ্ট্র সরকার আবার পুরোপুরিভাবে কাজ শুরু করেছে। কিন্তু ১৪৪ জন রিপাবলিকান পার্টির সম্মানিত সিনেটরগণ এই বিলের বিরুদ্ধে ভোট দিয়েছেন। মানে ১৪৪ জন রিপাবলিকান কংগ্রেস সদস্য চেয়েছে যে তাদের দেশ অচল হয়ে পড়ে থাকুক !!! আমেরিকা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ১৪৪ জন রিপাবলিকান সদস্য চেয়েছে যে তাদের দেশ বিদেশী রাষ্ট্রগুলোর পাওনা পরিশোধে ব্যর্থ হোক !!! মানে ১৪৪ জন রিপাবলিকান সদস্য চেয়েছে যে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র সরকার বন্ধ থাকা এবং ঋণ কিস্তি না দিতে পারার কারণে বিশ্ব অর্থব্যবস্থায় চরম অব্যবস্থা দেখা দিক !!! মানে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র সংসদের সংখ্যা গরিষ্ঠ রিপাবলিকান সদস্যরা চেয়েছে যে তাদের মুদ্রা ডলার ধ্বসে যাক !!! অথচ ডলার তো পৃথিবীর সকল দেশের জন্য বৈদেশিক বাণিজ্যের মুদ্রা। পৃথিবীর প্রায় সকল দেশের মুদ্রা-ই ডলারের আথে যুক্ত করা প্রত্যক্ষ বা পরোক্ষভাবে। পৃথিবীর সকল দেশ কে-ই বিপুল পরিমাণ ডলার জমা রাখতে হয় তাদের মুদ্রার বিপরীতে এবং বৈদেশিক বাণিজ্যের জন্য -এমন কী ভারত, বাংলাদেশ এবং শ্রীলংকাকেও।অর্থাৎ ডলার পড়ে গেলে এই সকল দেশের কী অবস্থা হবে ভাবা যায় ? তাই একজন আমেরিকান নাগরিক না হয়েও আমি কেন উদ্বিগ্ন হব না এই পরিস্থিতিতে ? মানে রিপাবলিকান পার্টির সদস্যদের এই আত্মধ্বংসী কার্য কলাপের জন্য সরাসরি ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হবে বাংলাদেশের একজন দরিদ্র গার্মেন্টস শ্রমিক। তাই আমি কেন আমেরিকা নামক বিশ্বের সবচে বড় অর্থনৈতিক জাহাজের খবর নিতে যাবো না এবং এ নিয়ে মাথা ঘামাবো না ???????
