USA, State of Colorado, , Fort Collins Description: Emergency responders and state highway workers toiled deep into Friday night to clear the path of debris left by a powerful thunderstorm. The storm that swept across Fort Collins shortly after 8 p.m. left a wake of mudslides, downed power lines and flooded streets as it made its way southeast into the plains. A mudslide brought on by the storm closed Colorado Highway 14 (Poudre Canyon Highway) between Ted’s Place and Stove Prairie, leaving Colorado Department of Transportation workers to clean up the first major slide of the summer in Larimer County. Fort Collins Utilities and Poudre Valley REA crews were also kept busy responding to outages in southwest Fort Collins and various other areas. PVREA reported about 6.7 percent of its customers were without power about an hour after the storm rolled through eastern Larimer County. Fort Collins streets workers were also kept busy with a variety of issues ranging from clearing trees and downed utility lines from the streets. The National Weather Service issued rolling rounds of severe thunderstorm warnings as the storm roiled over southeastern Larimer and southwestern Weld counties. Flood advisories were also put into effect in both counties.
