UTEP mens basketball thumps Loyola of New Orleans in the season opener, 84-49. UTEP defense was outstanding, held Loyola of New Orleans to .27 from the field and 0-7 from the 3-point line. UTEP shot .52 from the field and .41 from the 3-point line (7-17). UTEP play big tonight, crush Loyola of New Orleans in the paint, 48-24. My concern is Loyola of New Orleans (21-28) shot more free throws than UTEP (7-12), have to get better than that. UTEP is now 1-0 and will play at New Mexico State on Friday.
