Ugggh. I am torn on this issue... On one hand, i am all about helping people who need it... and having spent a small amount of time in Guatemala in some very impovrished areas, i feel for the people making their way here and would love to see them make a better life in America... Afterall we are a nation of immigrants... on the other hand, how can we afford this new influx of people who will most assuredly end up collecting tax payer sponsored benefits for some ammount of time if not for all time... Our countries welfare system is already at a bursting point being taken advantage of by many who are able bodied, but choose not to work, or are underemployed.... Fiscally, how can we afford this... i hate to stand in judgement of anybody who truly wants a better life for themselves and/or their family, but Americas bank account is tapped, were overdrawn, the taxpayer base is dwndleing... This is no longer the land of milk and honey... We could be again, but for now we have to take care of or own and fix ourselves....
