Ujima and Out for good has chosen some local Bushwick families in need as well as a number of Families from the Flushing family Residence. The Flushing Family Residence is a transitional shelter that provides families with housing, social services, employment counseling and child care services. Thanks to the funds raised from our Cocktails For A Cause Party and a few generous benefactors we will be providing meal service and gifts for at least 8 families. They will be afforded a Holiday Party with all the fixings and Santa will be dropping by to give the children their gifts. The need is great. The Flushing Family Residency services 91 families at last count. So we had to choose our 8 families randomly. One was chosen by our staff who in turn felt that it was appropriate to let the first child chosen randomly select the remaining families.We present our assistant Melissa. This precious child is one of many children that this shelter does an amazing job taking care of. We know because weve seen it first hand. We marvel at the warm environment the Flushing Family Residence is able to provide. Its no small task when you have families under duress. We have 8 families completely taken care of, but wed love to take on more and with your help we can. Now, do to space limitations we must limit the meal service to 16 families total. We are half way there on the meal service. Fortunately, we can handout as many gifts as we receive. We will have a gift registry up shortly.
