My family came from the Mesilla Valley, so I have some strong cultural and family ties to the area,” Sylvia tells me. ”I’m just so excited about the opportuntity at the Sun-News. Most journalists go into the business to make a difference, and I’m still starry-eyed enough to believe that want to make my community a better place.” Before the Mercury News, Sylva was Features Editor for The Salinas Californian.
