Umar (May Allah be pleased with Him) once saying: O people, whoever among you sees any crookedness in me, let him straighten it. One man standing up & saying: By Allah, if we see any crookedness in you we will straighten it with our swords. Umar (May Allah be pleased with Him) replying: Praise be to Allah Who has placed in this ummah people who will straighten the crookedness of Umar with their swords. May Allah having mercy upon the first three generations who were seeing beyond personalities when it coming to decision of right & wrong. More importantly, however, may Allah showering his mercy upon Umar for his acceptance & approval of words which if they being uttered in front of ***any*** shaykh/pir/maulvi/hazrat/murshid/puraana saathi, the ***very least*** they doing is classing person who making such remarks as clearly misguided. To appreciating the greatness of Umar, next time your pir/hazrat/murshid/shaykh speaking about how they being very adherent to Quran please to saying to them Yes, and only because of your adherence are we following you. If you ever showing slightest crookedness we using wooden spatulas from mosque kitchen to ironing out your creases.
