Uncle Michael and Aunt Mabbie, Berchtesgaden, 1929. That summer, - TopicsExpress

Uncle Michael and Aunt Mabbie, Berchtesgaden, 1929. That summer, the Burlinghams and Freuds once again rented adjacent chalets, and while Freud was writing Civilization and Its Discontents, my dad and his siblings were busy picking up the local-yokel accent of the farm family from whom they had rented the cottages, much to the amusement of their pals back in Vienna. Later, Field Marshall Herman Goring bought and renovated one of the cottages so he could be close to his pal, domiciled nearby in his Eagles Nest. Photo by Max Halberstadt.
