Under 15’s Minors Forest Hill vs Ringwood Loss 14-12 It was an awesome and fitting end to the season. We took it up to the ladder leader and fought it out all the way into extra time. The boys played over 2 hours of baseball and were in it the whole time. We had Daniel start on the mound for the first time all season as he has been recovering from an arm injury and did extremely well. He went 4 innings with 72 pitches. Later in the game we had Christian and Dane come in for relief work. In the first dig, we scored 2 runs and kept them scoreless which was a great start. Our main objective for the game was to knock out their starting pitcher which we did in the 2nd inning. In the 2nd dig we scored another run to make it 3. We couldn’t quite defend the lead and allowed them to score 3 unearned runs. In the next dig, it was remained a tied game. We scored and they bounced back with 1 as well. Game was 4-4 at that point. In the 4th dig, we scored 3 and were in the lead but again our defense wasn’t quite there so they managed to score 7 on a few hits and some errors. Top of the 5th, we were a little disheartened but then Mikey got us started by gaining a hit through the infield. That sparked our 2 out 5 run rally to take the lead by 1. Unfortunately we couldn’t quite defend this and they managed to win the game on a few scattered hits. Unfortunately we didn’t quite make it to the grand final but there is always next season! It has been amazing to see how much these boys have improved over the last 15 weeks. There were boys that couldn’t hit a ball who are now hitting line drives and even home runs. There were boys that had never played a certain position and have done really well! There were boys that were a bit shaky in their defense who have now improved so much more. It has been a pleasure to be given the opportunity to coach these boys. I am very proud of each individual and their achievements this season. Special thanks to Bruce Roberton our Manager and base coach for all his efforts this season on and off the field. The season wouldn’t have gone as smoothly without your help! Special thanks also to Carolyn Finis and Kim Lane for scoring for us over the season. It is a tough gig especially on the rainy and windy days! Well done boys on a fantastic season. Hopefully well see you around next season for some more action! Well see you at Junior Presentation next Sunday!
