Under-Twelve Cricket Introduction Program “Under-Twelve program”, the inaugural program of National Cricket Academy (NCA), was implemented as a long term investment that can produce fruitful results in the future. Unlike in other sports, it takes time to produce quality cricketers. Long term athlete development program has proved that a player need at least 10 years or 10000 hours of training before reaching national level to be competitive at that level. In order to complete required number of training hours, young cricketers need to be introduced to the game before they are 12 years. Thus, u12 is started with ambitious goal of reaching at least Ten Thousands kids across the Country by 2015 and seeing enthusiastic initial response from schools and kids, achieving our target don’t seem that far. At the end of the each season NCA will select 25-30 best players out of all the participants and will provide them high performance coaching. NCA is looking forward to decentralize this program throughout the Nation to make it accessible for the kids residing in different areas of the country. We believe, Involving small kids in the game of cricket will certainly help NCA to achieve its target of producing quality cricketers through effective and efficient training and coaching. Fast Bowling Camp New ball bowling has always been Key to the success of all the team in international level. Quality pace/swing bowler up-in-front tends to set the tone for his team early in the match. Fast bowling is the difficult art, if not the most difficult, in cricket. And to add to that they are the most injury prone; could easily break down any time. That increases the importance of bench strength in fast bowling department even more. NCA will invite pace bowling talents from across the country to participate in the camp. Few best talents will be picked and provided with further training on fitness, temperament and skill. Sole aim of this program is to find some raw talent and make them ready to play at international through high performance coaching. Coaches and Umpire Education Not only for the players, NCA is looking forward to provide trainings to empires and Coaches as well. Through these kinds of training programs, NCA is expecting to produce quality coaches and empire at domestic level. Quality coaches and empire will certainly help to raise standard of domestic cricket in Nepal.
