Understanding God On A Day Like This On a day when we remember - TopicsExpress

Understanding God On A Day Like This On a day when we remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, the grief and loss of their families is at the forefront of our minds. Moms and Dads who still weep themselves to sleep. Wives with a permanent hole in their souls. Children who had a normal upbringing ripped from them. It is so unfair. So hard. How do they cope? It raises questions. If God is good, how could this happen? Is God really good? These are fair questions. And difficult to answer. For those of us who believe the Bible is the word of God, the answer becomes more clear. For his own reasons, God allows suffering. He then uses that suffering to bring about greater goods, and to prevent greater evils, because of his unfailing love, goodness, greatness, and holiness. God is not like a man, so we will never understand God by comparing him to ourselves. For example, Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints (Psalm 116:15). So lets be humble and give glory to God for his goodness and greatness – even and especially on a day like this.
