All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. - 2Tim 3:16 Understanding of the scriptures is very important in these days some are departing from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron (1Tim 4:1-2); it is very important to avoid putting a piece from a new garment on an old one and putting new wine into old wineskins; failure to understand the scriptures have resulted in many getting drunk with old wine, hardly desires new wine; for they says, ‘The old is better.’” (Lk 5:36-39) • Lack of understanding of the scriptures blinds the minds of religious people; But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. (II Corinthians 3:14 NKJV) > Many dont know the difference between the old and new testaments because they lack good understanding of the scriptures. And those who have it are like a scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven [he] is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old.” (Matthew 13:52 NKJV) • When you, with the help of the Holy Spirit, study to shew thyself approved unto God, you are like a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2Tim 2:15); you will not be of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul (Heb 10:39). > Good understanding of the scriptures help you put your adversaries to shame in any argument; And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him. (Luke 13:17 KJV) • Those in Christ has the wisdom that teaches then the scriptures, for Jesus says; For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. (Luke 21:15 KJV) > Jesus is the wisdom of God in us enabling us to know the truth of the scriptures. No wonder He says to those He sent to preach saying, But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. (Matthew 10:19-20 KJV) • We have the Spirit that teaches us all things of God; However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. (John 16:13 NKJV) But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God...Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. (I Corinthians 2:10, 12-13 NKJV) But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. (I John 2:27 NKJV) Good understanding of the scriptures will help you to believe the truth; If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?” (John 5:46-47 NIV) > Jesus is the truth - Jn 8:32; 14:6. • Understanding the purpose of the scriptures: + Jesus said to the religious Jews, You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. (John 5:39-40 NKJV) > From the words of Jesus we can see that the scriptures cannot give anyone life. Life is only in Jesus; In Him was life, and the life was the light of men...I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly (John 1:4; 10:10). + Paul said to Timothy, All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. Peoples own words in the bible are not scriptures inspired by God, nor the word we must live by; Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21 NIV) • You must understand that Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets [which is the Scriptures]. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son[the Word we must live by]. God promised everything to the Son [2Cor 1:20] as an inheritance, and through the Son[not the scriptures] he created the universe[Jn 1:1-4]. (Hebrews 1:1-2 NLT) • So all scripture is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work; But they cannot give anyone life. All the scriptures[the law and the prophets] prophesied until John (Matt 11:13); then John pointed the people to Jesus saying, Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29 NKJV) > Coming to Jesus is as to a living Stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious (1Pet 2:4). It is not like coming to the law and prophets, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. (Matthew 7:29 NKJV) • Those in Christ have His authority; “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. (Matthew 11:11 NKJV) > Many people in Christ Jesus who dont know who they are in Christ find it hard to believe that they are greater than Abraham, David and everyone born of woman. > Yes knowledge of the truth makes a believer puff up; You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (I John 4:4 NKJV) • Understand that whatever things were written before [Christ] were written for our learning [not for our living], that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope [not have life]. (Romans 15:4 NKJV) > We live by the words of Christ; “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live...It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. (John 5:24-25; 6:63 NKJV) • It takes the word of Christ for the believers to stand against trials and temptations without fail; Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. (Matthew 7:24-25 NKJV) > Despite what we know about the scriptures, we are called to live by the words of Jesus; As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. (Colossians 2:6-7 NKJV) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. (Colossians 3:16-17 NKJV) • Listen friends, it is not the Scriptures in you, But Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily. (Colossians 1:27-29 NKJV) > If you have been born again, then strife for perfection by continuing in the word of Jesus Christ; Strive to enter through the narrow door[Jesus is the door]. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter [through other means] and will not be able. (Luke 13:24 ESV) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6 ESV) • Jesus the Word of God is everything you need to enter into life. The scriptures cannot do that. All scriptures point to the JESUS the Messiah. And when Christ came; Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.” (Luke 2:25-32 ESV) > Indeed we have everything we need from God in Christ Jesus; Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places...he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will...In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace (Ephesians 1:3, 5, 7 ESV). + May you not be among those getting drunk with old wine that makes them desire not the new wine; Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation; May you not be carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen! (1Pet 2:2. 2Pet 3:17-18) God Bless You! Hallelujah!
