Unfortunately it went as predicted and there was a landslide to the Concrete Greens (and tag along Labor). There is so little meaning in party politics it beats me that people do not discriminate, and continue to vote on old fashioned sterotypes. In Fremantle, this is our enemy. Image, superficiality and group think win. So and so is a calathumpian so they must be bad; so and so is Green so must be good. Substance and critical thinking lost, and now gone forever. Spin and glib win. So familiar with the recent Fed election nowhere to turn for a vote. They will now continue to cover our green spaces with commercial and concrete areas, oblivious to heritage and history or politics. Fremantle as a port and residential area has so few. They had so much money it was impossible to contest as an individual, and they had the Messiah at the helm (familiar). This adulation and deification of an individual has precedents in history but we never learn. Probably because we no longer teach history. I am not personally disappointed but disappointed in the fact that nobody cares about how a result is achieved as long as it is achieved and some 60% were missing in action. But, we see this everywhere now in all phases of life: short term thinking for short term results. And, as always, it will end in tears. However, it does mean I am not stuck here now which is good but it means I have to clean the house which is bad ;-((. Many many thanks for all the support and good wishes.
