Unfortunately there are people who do fake being homeless and take advantage of the acts of kindness from many people...I myself have seen the scammers but there are signs and ways to avoid being scammed... 1.If you really want to help offer to buy a meal or if your short on money give them your left overs a homeless person will not turn down food. 2. A homeless person will not be carrying a cell phone. 3. Most scammers are out during the day, so unless you know where to go a lot of homeless people are in hiding because the cops try and run them off the streets during the day and if they are out they are most likely not going to be making a scene and try to be avoided if they can, they certainly would not be walking the street asking for money 4. The people they may interact with will tell you a lot, homeless people will either be alone and sleeping during most of the day or in the company of another homeless person which they have bonded with for security or protection. 5. Look around their environment homeless people carrying everything they have with them, and may occasionally have a bike for transportation but not likely., just be aware of vehicles parked around this will for sure give you a sign of potential scammers. 6. Thats just a few signs to help recognized a homeless person or scammer, but unless you are on the streets, know where to go or what to look for it is sometimes hard to tell the difference, but if you really want to help get out at night a scammer if not going to waste their time being in the streets at night or give up a nice house to go home to and warm bed to sleep in...
