Unfortunately, while we were successful in shutting down the Facebook page, these people have their own website. They claim they use the snakes for meat and sell the skins, in which doing so in the state of Kentucky is illegal. Furthermore, they say that they kill only venomous snakes, not that it makes it any better, but they lack the ability to properly identify, and kill harmless snakes as well. Fortunately Kentucky protects their native wildlife from slaughter-for-profit: Only five or less individuals of each species may be taken per year (301 KAR 2:081 Section 5), and Native wildlife may not be sold or advertised for sale (301 KAR 2:081 Section 2).
