Unidentified Woman Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash Location: Canal Road, just west of Mount Sinai/Coram Road, Mount Sinai Date/Time: Sunday, June 23, 2013 at approximately 11 a.m. Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crimes Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a female pedestrian in Mount Sinai this morning. A woman, possibly a jogger, was struck by a vehicle on Canal Road, just west of Mount Sinai/Coram Road, at approximately 11 a.m. The vehicle, which was described as a tan or light-colored midsized car, fled the scene. The woman, who was not carrying identification, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital and was admitted, unconscious. The victim is described as white, with a medium build, between 50 and 60 years old, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall with red/brown shoulder-length hair. She was wearing black shorts, a blue and white shirt with New Balance sneakers and has a pink and white manicure and pedicure. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the woman’s identity or the location of the vehicle and/or driver to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
