United Kingdom, , Statewide, !!! ALERT !!! Description: Weather forecasters are now certain a giant storm that has formed in the Atlantic will affect most of the UK. A Yellow Warning for heavy rain and high winds is in force for Bassetlaw meaning people should be prepared for the severe conditions. The stormy weather will start on Sunday night and will last through the Monday morning rush hour and into the early afternoon. The storm is being described as the worst in years and there could be gusts of 80mph or even 90mph in some places. That is enough to uproot trees and cause structual damage. As well as the high winds, up to two inches of rain could fall leading to flood risks and cause travel disruption. A storm due to track across England from the south-west to the Humber could bring heavy rain and winds of up to 70mph to Hull and the East Riding on Monday, forecasters are warning. Weather agency the Met Office says the so-called St Jude Storm will be Britains worst for more than five years. Severe weather warnings have been issued across East Yorkshire, valid from 12.05am on Monday morning, and the Environment Agency says people should be aware of the potential for flooding. So far, only one flood alert is in place, for the North Sea coast between Bridlington and Barmston, where waves could top sea walls at high tide. Although the worst impact of the storm is likely to be in the south of England and Wales, the Met Office said the north of the country was facing intense rainfall. Forecasters predict between 20mm and 40mm of rain could fall in six to nine hours. The storm will develop over the Atlantic today and is expected to hit the south-west of Britain before moving north-eastwards. Heavy rain is due to arrive on Sunday night with strong winds in the early hours of Monday. It has been named the St Jude Storm after the patron saint of lost causes whose feast date is on Monday.
