United Nations Boot Camp Sunday, June 7, 2015 – Saturday, June 13, 2015 The United Nations Boot Camp is a week-long immersion study program that gives students the opportunity to explore, examine and experience the inner workings of world’s premier global governance body—the United Nations. The UN Boot Camp is anchored by a series of seminars and lectures led by UN officials, diplomats, and a wide range of leaders and experts from academia, civil society, government and the private sector currently working with the UN to address global challenges. Participants will attend briefings at UN Headquarters, the United States Mission to the UN, and several leading non-governmental organizations in New York. Students will also spend the last two days of the program in Washington, DC, where they will meet with key decision-makers and other senior officials from the Department of State, Congressional Staff, the United Nations Information Center and representatives of various, non-governmental organizations, and think tanks which may have alternative views of the UN system. Key topics include: United Nations System: Origins, Organs and Structure, UN Reform, The Sustainable Development Goals, Humanitarian Intervention, Human Rights, and Peace and Security.
