Unless Im watching nightly news, the crisis in the Middle East is not usually at the forefront of my daily thoughts. The minor, petty conflicts of my day pale greatly, almost laughably, in comparison to the critical and dangerous climate that people in those countries must endure. We should remind ourselves of this repeatedly and be thankful for where we live, what we have and who we have beside us. To my nephew Andrew on his way to a desert country so far from home and family - I hope you enjoy the beauty of the sights, experience kindness from the good people that still exist in this world and return with many memories and stories.
