Unless we are able to guarantee every Indian citizen one of the most fundamental human needs, that is, enough drinking water of sufficient quality. We can never become a developed and a responsibile society. During the Loksabha session, I raised a very critical issue of shortage of safe drinking water in coastal areas of Odisha in general the district of Balasore in particular under rule 377. - Under rule 377, there is a need to explore opportunities under the rural water supply programme. The provision of safe drinking water has important equity and development implications. - Balasore is one of the most natural disaster-prone districts of Orissa. Flood, cyclone and drought regularly devastate the source of drinking water the district. Hence, I requested GOI to kindly consider providing safe drinking water through Mega Piped Water Supply Project, setting up of water treatment plant at the source. #BetterBalasore
