Unlike hybrids, when a farmer purchases GMO seeds, they must sign - TopicsExpress

Unlike hybrids, when a farmer purchases GMO seeds, they must sign a Technology Agreement, legally binding them to all its restrictions, AND open access to farm inspections by the biotech patent holder, to ensure the farmer is not saving their own seed. Every time a farmer wishes to plant more of that crop, instead, they must return to the owner of the patent and purchase more of these seeds, along with a compulsory supply of associated chemicals. A 2012 Center for Food Safety report, details been between 2500 and 4500 "seed piracy" cases in the U.S. where farmers have paid cash settlements to Monsanto alone, totaling between $85million and $160million.
