Until you experience this 545 mile ride from San Fran to LA you cannot possibly fathom (me included before my first ride) the magnitude and size of the operation. From bike techs with every spare imaginable, medical teams, roadies to direct, entertain, feed, water and clean up afterwards, all of these at each and every rest stop as well as camp. The traffic team who direct every last cyclist at crucial points, the traffic police that sometimes close down entire lanes just for cyclists, the gear truck drivers & crew who not only transport your bags & tents but theme each day & dress up too...the list is truly endless and of course the riders who sleep a few hours a night and get up the next day to do it all again, living from rest stop to rest stop eating there way through literally tons of food all aiming for the same cause, to make a difference. This experience really does have to be seen to be believed. Will I do it again? Probably.
