Breakdown BUBBLE BURT Male, early 20’s. Caucasian. Optimistic, energetic, innocent, loyal, sometimes hyper-active. Boyish and ideally blonde. Performer must have a pliable body and be an extremely physical actor with excellent comedic timing. [ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED] PADDY Male, early 20’s. Any ethnicity. Well-intentioned but lacking common sense or skills. Kind and somewhat clueless. A big softie. Physically needs to be round shaped, hefty (possibly bald or willing to shave head if desired). Ideally, he is fair or ruddy (red head, etc.). SPILLBUD Male 20’s – early 40’s. Any ethnicity. Grumpy, short-tempered, generally negative but loveable nonetheless. Must be tall and thin. Seeking performer who plays (or can fake) the clarinet. Must move well or dance. Any actors auditioning for this role should sing a big, showbizzy show tune, ideally something about determination or wanting to be a star, a la Give my Regards to Broadway, I Am What I Am, All I Care About is Love, Don’t Rain on My Parade, Broadway Baby, etc. SUZY BEACH Female 20’s. African-American or Latina. A native Texan, speaks with an accent. Intelligent, buoyant, very athletic and physically fit. Must know (or be able to quickly learn) karate. Any actresses auditioning for this role should sing a pop country song in the style of such artists as Carrie Underwood, Rissi Palmer, Lady Antebellum, Faith Hill, etc. ALGAE-NON Male 20’s – 30’s. Any ethnicity. His personality outweighs his small size – a diminutive firecracker. Determined, he will do anything to get ahead in life. Very greedy, but his heart is still open enough to learn life lessons along the road. Must be able to rap and dance very well. [ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED] MR. CLAWS Male 20’s – 40’s. Any ethnicity. Lives his life as a penny-saving, money-grabbing restaurateur. Seeking performer a little more physically round, stocky. A short and stout frame. Instruments and special skills a big plus. Any actors auditioning for this role should sing an up-tempo contemporary song that shows off your upper vocal range in a pop or funk style- something fun and something to wail on.
