Update: Hunger strike day three has been concluded with success and the issue of Eritrean detainees in Djibouti has received the overdue attention from relevant parties including Djibouti mission, UNHCR, OHCHR, European Union... Today Mrs. Elsa Chyrum have attended many meetings and was seen by many representatives and authorities, ambassadors of various countries both African and European. A lot of parts in Geneva are now moving, much happening behind the doors - the UNHCR, EU departments, and Djibouti mission . All assured her that her action was admirable, they are making it their priority and that they are working on the case of the Eritrean detainees in Negad Prison. After 3 days of hunger strike, Mrs. Elsa will start eating again this evening They are listening and are finally all seriously working on it. she says. My immediate mission is accomplished. Few days ago when Elsa was asked by many, why hunger strike, to which she repeatedly replied I have no choice, but to go on hunger strike to save lives. Otherwise, they will perish one by one. The Eritrean detainees in Negad prison still in peril and HRCE calls on everyone to stay vigilant and continue the lobbying efforts via phone, email and fax. Please share this and thanks.
