Update Marnie et al, and everyone regarding different pain meds. Ill just have to wait. Id rather give birth ---- it was far easier. I have implants on both sides and a rod extending up the back of the leg, pins/screws etc. There were 4 blocks administered while awake, an anesthesiologist on each side, asking me feel this, feel that? Oh yeah I felt that My mind went back to the days all PPS kids remember of ether used in WWII and Korea, you were tummy sick for days, used even for tonsils. Old tapes. Then they switched and added general anestheric. Four hours later I was awake. Wide awake! How dare humana force patients leave before the patient is ready, for the sake of the almighty $???? Have we become that inhumane vs what an ins company named humana? Nurses that dont know what the right hand or left hand is doing, forgetting pain medication so by the time its administered youre in wriggling pain? Thats not quality. Home health is minimal and once a week. Youre really at your own devices which Im fairly good at. But that doesnt mean in the case of a sensitive surgery that requires weeks off of the foot and ankle that a patient must be watched and carefully monitored to make sure the healing process is done correctly or one could face it all over again. Im hoping Im not repeating myself too much. But Im not at all sure. Pain does funny things, I know orthopedic pain, we all do. I honestly dont recall this kind or this much pain. I can handle a lot, always could. This though is the absolute worst I can recall. Im mostly hoping I dont sound ungrateful, so many have written. And Ive read most I think. My eyes arent totally focused in on the phone keyboard so Im sure Im repeating and maybe even not making sense. I was so incensed when a nurse came in to tell me Humana had the audacity to call that theyre sending one of their drs to keep me another day at $390.00!! Im PPO and can choose any dr I want. I told her no one. NO ONE was keeping me where I didnt want to stay, UNLESS said Humana dr was volunteering to pay MY exorbitant daily co pay!!!!! That was that! I guess I hit the nail square on!! Now at home and taking the meds Im allowed, keeping track on my phone so an alarm sounds when its ok to take another dose---- Ive managed to hop to the bathroom with a walker, do 2 seasons of my own recipe of yoga, meditation and tai chi (from the bed of course), and listen to meditation tapes to help relax to at least a partial sleep state. These things help at times and other times not at all. Ya gotta try and do what you can do. If I have 6-12 weeks I have to devise a plan of my own safe recovery.
