Update: Sorry I have not updated, this info is from Wed Dec 31st to Tues Jan 6th......... TommyJ has been really doing well, he has progressed on his feeds and is now on 23cc the maximum for his weight and age is 36cc so he is almost there. He is digesting his feeds and his intestines are functioning, Mommy has been able to clean and empty his temporary ostomy bag. TommyJ was given a bath New Years day as you will see in the picture of him. One of our Nurses Caroline made him a little turbin to keep him warm while mommy helped her floss and clean between every finger, toe, and under that little double chin. We are going to have issues with baths since he has a little fit when water touches him. Hopefully its just a thing right now, and he will grow out of it. MOMMY DONT DO DIRTY BABIES , TOMMYJ....... So as of Monday Jan 4th Dr. Carballo the Neo thought she was going to come back to work and see TommyJ extubated. He had different plans for her they gave him blood and platelets again since he still had some oozing from the picline sight. Dr decided that she was going to put a few stitches around it to try to take care of the problem. That was going to be the next goal to take him off of the ventilator, and move him further along in his progress. Today Wed Jan 6th, I called and spoke to the day Nurse Sheiva and she gave me the best news that I could ask for Mr. TommyJ was going to be extubated and placed on NIPPV which is basically like we all know a CPAP. As Mommy and Daddy arrived to the hospital in a huge hurry to be there, it was done. you will see in the last few pictures he is successfully sucking on his binky without any struggles, and loving that he does not have any tubes in his mouth. He showed us by tugging on it that he hated so much like we did. We pray that he will have a good night tonight, and TommyJ will progress from this day forward.
