Update. Spent about an hour with Hughes Net. All sounded good. I could get 20 GB for about $80 with taxes. I placed an order and set up a date for installation. Then the salesman started rattling all the little details as fast as his mouth could flap. I tried stopping him along the way with questions and he just kept going but, I was able to catch him in the end. What? Only 10 of the 20 GB are good anytime. The other 10 can only be used from 2:00 - 8:00 am. What is wrong with these darn internet companies in this country? Most people are asleep at 2:00am and if they get up before 8:00 they are getting ready for work or whatever they plan for the day. I told the kid to cancel the order. He agreed to do so and to transfer me to a manager. He hung up! Whoo! I called back, Luckily. He didnt cancel the order at all. So my money is tied up for a week on something I told him to cancel. But I did get the next guy to cancel it. Why would anyone pay for limited internet at those prices when half the service is only available during sleeping hours? Crazy!!! I am also noticing these companies are listing the MB per second for down stream and up stream, but not the GB allowance in all their ads. However, I am still ticked off that we (tax payers) paid Wild Blue 7 billion dollar for Rural service for one stinking year just so we could put dial up service out of business. Now the dial up that is available is three times the price and doesnt even work. Took 4 hours for me to check my email with the same dial up service I had years ago. I gave up and cancelled that out after having it less than a day. Come Monday I am calling my Congressman. This is out and out abuse of the taxpayers money when 7 billion dollars is pocketed after one year and service is again unavailable. If anyone has traveled across the U.S. they know this country is more rural than urban and why should the majority of us be putting up with this kind of treatment. They are treating us like a bunch of brain dead idiots. I think it is time to get a petition together regarding this issue and start providing rural residents with the same services available in Urban U.S.A. Especially, since I was just told a new Satellite is up and running within the last week and it is available to customers nationwide, no matter where they live. All one needs is a view of the southern sky, no matter if they are in a rural community or an urban community. Why do Urban customers have unlimited internet and rural customers limited at twice the cost? It is no further to the satellite when we are talking about a Satellite sitting up yonder. Terrible! Just plain Terrible! Oh well, tomorrow is a new day!
