Update: The final pathology showed that the new mass was caused by the lower lobe of my moms lung beginning to die. They dont know conclusively what caused that portion of the lung to die, but the working theory is that because the cancer was so close to the main blood vessel to that lobe the blood supply was compromised when they removed the tumor. Scary stuff, for real! Since this time they removed the whole lower part of her lung, hopefully the untouched upper part will be okay. Also, shell be going back to Mayo on the 19th for more tests and then will have surgery as an outpatient on the 22nd for an abdominal biopsy and an internal ultrasound of her pancreas. My Squish handled her mommy being gone for several hours at the hospital relatively well yesterday and then later when we got home she said, Mama, I lub you for eber and eber an a ways and happiwy eber after an de end. So cute, lol. :) Doc
