Update: This is going to be a long one because I havent been able to get on and update everyone because theres been alot going on. Saturday my dad was fitted for his back brace, and that night we stayed up and watched family guy together, lots of smiles today. Sunday they removed his chest tube and got him sitting up on the side of the bed in his brace with help. It was tough and painful but he pushed through and gave us a lot of smiles :). They came back later and fitted him with his walking boot, he slept pretty much the whole day today because he didnt sleep well the night before and was very tired. Sunday evening he started having alot of breathing problems that we could not get under control it got pretty bad and we all worked really hard to get it under control. The doctors finally got him on heavier pain meds and meds to calm him and he finally was able to fall asleep. Monday morning we got a frantic early morning call and we were told he had a very rough night and he had taken a turn for the worse and was moved to ICU, they had to intabate him. He now has a breathing tube in with a machine that is breathing for him as well as a feeding tube, he is heavily sedated and not able to talk or communicate with us :( . The doctors were talking about plateing his ribs but because his ribs are broken in the back that was not a option that would help him. Today they put the chest tube back into his lung to drain the fluid because his lung is getting compressed because it is full of fluid, this tube is inserted to help suction out the fluid buid up beside his lung. This tubing is not enough and not strong enough, they say the fluid is very thick, almost like pudding. He is now scheduled for surgery first thing in the morning, they will go in and surgically scoop and suction out the fluid in his chest cavity, in hopes this will work and the fluid will not come back. I had forgotten to add the other day that he does have a contusion on his spinal cord resulting in some very painful nerve damage in his legs, but they are controlling the pain with medication that is made to just control his nerve pain. We found out he was centimeters away from being paralized so we are very thankful that he is not! Thank you to everyone for their love and support, it has been very difficult but with all of you and your prayers it has helped us to stay strong. Its been hard because he had been making so many improvements and being so strong and this was a very hard and scary set back. We hope the surgery tomorrow goes good and we can take him off the ventilator soon, so he can get back to his road to recovery because we miss his smiles and sense of humor. Thank you again to everyone XO Crystal & Sherri
