Update Tropical Low – Schools - 12.15pm Thursday 30th January, 2014 Townsville Catholic Education is continuing to consult with Education Queensland and the Townsville Local Disaster Management Group who are monitoring the situation with the Tropical Low. The latest information is that Education Queensland will not make a decision on whether schools will open tomorrow (Friday 31st January) until 6am. Townsville Catholic Education follows EQ procedures. We will continue to monitor the situation and if anything changes, information will be posted immediately to the website, facebook and twitter. The current weather advice is that it is still a tropical low not actually a cyclone at this time. Parents/carers are encouraged to keep up to date with this situation via the website, facebook or twitter. Teachers and staff should keep in contact with their principals. Information will be broadcast on local radio stations as soon as it becomes available tomorrow morning, between 6am-6.30am. This will apply to Catholic schools, kindergartens, outside school hours care and St Mary MacKillop Early Learning Centres. Parents/carers: If your local situation threatens to be unsafe with flooding, please use your discretion with the interests of safety at all times.
