Update: When you are on a terminal cancer journey, there are different phases, and we are transitioning to the next phase. The cancer is still causing my liver to be shutting down and not functioning as it should. This is causing other problems such as 60lbs of excess fluid. MD Anderson is now out of options to treat the cancer. Chemo would put me in a coma and shorten my life. The focus now will be on treating the problems the cancer is causing, and hospice home care are the best people to do that. The travel to Houston is also very difficult now, especially with 60 lbs of fluid. We are heading back to Brownwood this AM (within the the hour) and plan on just staying put. I have two more weeks of antibiotics (IV), then I will officially switch to hospice care. MDA will stay in touch and be available to treat any clinical problems should they arise. Nobody but God knows how much longer my liver will hold. Hospice are the best people to improve my quality of life, control pain, and extend my life as long as God allows. The good news is that God does not run out of options and keeps working when worldly people cannot. I appreciate the prayers and encouragement so much! My family will need more. I am feeling really good and in great shape mentally and spiritually. This will continue to be difficult on Ross, Nancy, and Sarah. While I greatly appreciate everyones concern, but I would also appreciate the acceptance of our current plan and please restrain from offering alternative treatments to Nancy and I. This is a long post, but I will publish a longer blog post regarding how my family has come to make sense out of this journey. Its is definitely driven by God. I love you all and God is not quite done with me yet.
