Update: Words of Honor for Little Rock Soldier Who Died in Operation Enduring Freedom: A Little Rock soldier in the United States Army died on Sunday in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. According to the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), 22-year-old Sgt. Jamar A. Hicks and two other soldiers died in Afghanistan after their unit was attacked with indirect fire. Hicks, 26-year-old Staff Sgt. Octavio Herrera of Caldwell, Idaho and 26-year-old Spc. Keith E. Grace of Baytown, Texas, were all assigned to the 4th Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kent. The DOD says Herrera and Grace died in Paktia Province, Afghanistan, while Hicks was evacuated to Forward Operating Base Salerno in Khost, Afghanistan, where he later died.
