Update for Gordon: I was feeling very worried and blue this morning as it seems every day is worse than the last. Gordon had another episode during the night. The rounding doctor today was the practice seizure specialist—whom we have not seen before. It is her opinion that the episodes he has been having since being at the hospital are non-epileptic seizures (the brain is not mis-firing) like the epileptic seizure that he had in the restaurant last week. She believes the first seizure was caused by the UTI, and everything since then is a clash between his old seizure medication and the new one. Now that he is not taking the new one, but the first and third ones, we have another variable. She thinks it is best to come off of everything new and go back to only what he has been taking for the last year. She says the bloating and the vomiting are withdrawal symptoms. She says that the extreme weakness is due to being in the bed several days and that it is a lot more pronounced in Gordon because of the deficits from the stroke. I’m not sure how long before the withdrawals are over but I do know that I should have gone with my gut instinct and not have given it to him in the first place! We are fervently praying now that she is right and for this to be over and a return of his strength, and acceptance into Roger C Peace for rehab. Thank you for your faithful prayers. We feel it!
