Update from Arnazs first court date! Today was a huge success! The judge, the cops and the prosecutor and the school administration had clearly been working together to try to throw everything they could at Cody students to intimidate students from going to Arnazs hearing, but Cody would not be deterred! 28 brave students went, despite endless harassment and BAMN-baiting of student organizers in Cody by teachers, administrators and security guards, a fox new slander piece and the judge even threatening to call truancy officers on students, but Cody students WOULD NOT LEAVE the court, and when asked if there were any witnesses in the room, at least 8 people stood up, proud and brave, despite the huge police presence in the room, to say that they had been there, that they knew what really happened and they were prepared to tell their story before anyone, even a hostile, racist court. Despite all the intimidate and threats we all left together and the DPS cops just had to move aside and were not able to do anything to anyone, because they know we have the whole community on our side and we were standing on the moral high ground. This strong show of bravery, unity and loyalty put the prosecutor on notice and riled up the judge, making clear to everyone that if they continue to press charges against Arnaz they risk dragging all of racist cop, Jason Tontis, skeletons out of his closet, and they are not sure they want to do that. Today laid the groundwork for getting Arnazs charges dropped! If we continue and grow bigger we can win and get Arnazs charges dropped and get Jason Tontis fired and put in jail for what he did to Arnaz. The next court date for Arnaz is December 11th! Be there! When you fight for Arnaz you are not only fighting for a friend, but for yourself, and all of Cody high school and all Detroit youth!
