Yorkshire Gazette Saturday 3rd January 1824 ELVINGTON near YORK VALUABLE ESTATE TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION By Mr J Gray On Monday, the 26th day of January, 1824, at three o’clock in the afternoon, at the house of P Lorriman, sign of the Bay Horse Elvington, subject to such conditions of sale as shall be produced. All that capital farm, situated in Elvington aforesaid, consisting of 68 acres, more or less, of arable and pasture land (including 5 acres of rich Ings land), together with an excellent farmhouse, barn, stables, cow houses, fold yard and other requisite outbuildings all in complete repair. The farm is conveniently situated near the navigable river Derwent, 7 miles from the city of York, and contiguous to the homestead. The estate is freehold, tithe free and land tax redeemed. Mr William Bowman, the tenant, will show the premises, and further particulars may be known, by applying to Mr Joseph Moyser, Sutton Mills or to Mr Thomas Walker, solicitor, Colliergate, York.
