Its moving W and should strengthen-- but not too much. The big question: Will it reach the Philippines? The reliable computer models disagree: the Euro brings the system into the Visayas, whereas the GFS turns the cyclone N, so that is stays just offshore of Samar, Bicol, and the rest of Luzon. Interestingly, both the JTWC (shown here) *and* JMA seem to agree more with the GFS (rare for the JMA grin emoticon ). In light of the big event in the Philippines this weekend, well keep our fingers crossed extra tight that the GFS is right! grin emoticon (Either way, please note: this is a *weak* tropical storm, *not* a typhoon.)
