Update from InciWeb (InciWeb.org): Red Flag Warning in Effect for Today Due to predicted dry lightning and gusty winds a red flag warning has been declared from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for the fire area. Firefighters will continue constructing fireline to increase containment along with mop up and cold trailing around structures. Due to the dry conditions and the low fuel moistures, the East Peak fire will continue to display active fire behavior within its perimeter and smoke will be visible in the vicinity of the fire for the foreseeable future. The East Peak Fire remains at 13,472 acres and 70 percent contained; firefighters aided by calmer winds have made great strides securing the fireline and gaining containment. There are 13 handcrews currently assigned to the incident as well as 5 helicopters, 44 engines, 16 water tenders, and 6 dozers. In total, there are 628 people assigned to this incident. Huerfano County and the Pike San Isabelle National Forest are now enforcing Stage II Fire Restrictions.
