Update from the Ketchums! Shalom from Jerusalem Update and Prayer Points Daniel and Carol Ketchum 27 December 2014 Shalom from Jerusalem following another quiet, restful, renewing Shabbat and worship weekend. Just after sunset on Shabbat, Carol and I returned from walking to the Mount of Olives and praying over the Old City and the Eastern Gate. This was the first time since we moved here October 1 that we have gone to the Mount of Olives. We have been so immersed in ministries of prayer, worship, discipling, healing, and hospitality in our apartment with colleagues from many nations that we have not yet been to the Galilee. We will drive there as soon our ministry schedule permits a short get-away from Jerusalem. From our apartment on Jaffa Street, we walk about 20 minutes to the Old City, another 10 minutes to the Western Wall, and another 15 minutes to the Mount of Olives. It is easier to walk than drive this short distance because of traffic and parking. In fact, walking anywhere less than 2-3 miles is more efficient than driving, especially when trying to find a place to park after we arrive. Also, fuel costs $9 per gallon across Israel. But now, thanks to God and you, we rejoice in an answer to your prayers and a result of your faithful financial partnership. We finally located and obtained a used car: a 2011 Renault with 70,000 kilometers (44,000 miles). After praying long for wisdom, receiving advice from many colleagues and professionals, and researching used cars online, by word-of-mouth, and at dealers, we finally decided on this mid-size four-door car. Beginning next week, we will need a car to drive every week one hour one-way toward the coast to the home of the couple who will host the launch of a community group we will lead. This married, believing couple (Jew and Gentile) have prayed for years to host in their apartment a Bible fellowship in an area north of Tel Aviv. This new ministry illustrates Kingdom convergence with Dan Bohi Ministries (Facebook), Skyline Wesleyan, and King of Kings Community Jerusalem (KKCJ). The Lord made this possible by providing a car right on time! Thank you so much for your care, prayers, and generous giving. You are a blessing beyond description! In less than three months in Jerusalem, the Lord helped us to secure a clergy visa for the first year, overcome cultural challenges, settle into a rental apartment, purchase essentials for daily living, secure a used car, study Hebrew, engage in many ministries with King of Kings, and prepare a new Wesleyan community group near the coast. We have prayed privately with at least 20 persons from at least 15 nations for forgiveness, cleansing, healing, and victory over the evil one. We have met with at least 60 pastors and leaders of many ministries around Jerusalem. We continue to lead worship and intercession in the Jerusalem Prayer Tower (on floor 14 above King of Kings). Also, you might enjoy watching Carol and me sharing the story of Messiah and Hanukkah on Sunday evening 21 December at KKCJ. Copy and paste this link in your Web browser: new.livestream/kkcj/2014-12-21. Then, click on the video timeline across the bottom of the video at the 11-minute mark to see the beginning of worship. We brought children to the platform following worship at the 40-minute mark. Prayer Points 1. We met with the new global board for a ministry that KKCJ Pastor Wayne Hilsden invited us to help him create and develop. FIRM (Fellowship of Israel-Related Ministries) is an Israel-based, global organization that brings together Biblically-sound ministries led by followers of Jesus the Messiah—Jewish and Arab believers alike—who have a heart for Israel and are actively engaged in blessing Israel. Pray for international favor, for wide and deep participation among thousands of potential leaders, denominations, and organizations, and for generous funding for a new global ministry in 2015. 2. MORE EXCITING NEWS! We will help to launch FIRM during an Israel Summit in Loveland, Colorado February 4-6, 2015. Register at israelsummit.org. Conference theme: “STAND FIRM.” The global speakers are anointed frontline leaders. Pray for thousands to register. Pray for the 500 students who plan to join us on that Friday. Carol and I hope to see you there! Here is a link to some Israel Summit promotional resources: d.pr/f/10k7F. You can download print and social media graphics at this link. Please spread this exciting news to all of your networks soon. Thank you! 3. Pray for continuing warm favor in relationship with all of the observant Jews who live in our apartment building. 4. Pray for the flourishing launch of the community group we will lead near the coast and for the couple hosting this group in their home and among their neighbors/friends. 5. Pray for a spirit of repentance and awakening among people in the Middle East, Israel, and Jerusalem. They conclude many prayers crying, “Come, Messiah, now.” 6. Pray for our continuing favor with officials in education, business, media, and government, for our grasp of Hebrew language, and for continuing health and safety. 7. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and Israel, especially toward March 17 when Israeli citizens will elect a new Parliament and the next Prime Minister. National security and foreign policy are enormously important as threats mount daily. Pray for the Lord’s will, and for the God of Israel to protect His people and to work all things for His glory. Thank you for your amazing partnership in this Kingdom convergence! May the Lord fill your heart and home with the refreshing love of Messiah and the fulness of the Spirit throughout this special Shemitah year 5775. Shalom from Jerusalem. To the praise of God’s glory! Daniel and Carol Ketchum Emails: dk2go@cs and ck2go@cs Postal: Jaffa St. 153/38, Jerusalem 9434247 Israel
