Update: had to fabricate a brace for the steering column and it was welded in place. At the same time we got the trailer hauled to a McDonalds. Once the van was running, the brakes didnt work and it wouldnt shift out of first. Jeff Morton talked us through the brake problem. The transmission fluid is supposed to be red.... Its almost completely black. We were highly advised against driving but it takes more than that to keep Artifas away from a show!
