Update on Matthew: today was a very rough day. First the spinal fluid leak and simultaneously his breathing became increasingly coarse and labored. His oxygen sats kept dropping into the 80s and his heart rate has stayed at or above 156 for a long time. It looked and sounded like he was sucking for air and couldnt get any. he had to go onto oxygen. Then he could not maintain adequate sats even with oxygen and the doctors were talking about intubating and putting him on a respirator. My heart dropped but they tried some other things and got him somewhat stabilized .... He is still struggling but I am hopeful he will pull through the night without having to go onto respirator. Tonight and tomorrow will hopefully see some progress. Praying .... God please hear our prayers.
