Update on Mom: Hello everyone...Let me start by saying that I apologize for not being more timely with my updates. It seems like no matter what the situation, life still goes on and sometimes we cant keep up with it. Anybody know the feeling? Mom has been struggling with breathing issues for a long time, and so we knew that weaning her off of the ventilator would ultimately be a difficult task, at best. She has been working so hard to come off of the vent but has not been strong enough to do so at this time. On Wednesday of last week, the doctors were able to place a stent in the tumor in hopes that her lung would be able to get oxygen and begin to heal the pneumonia that she has, and that the next attempt to remove the vent would be successful, however it was not. With that being said, her Dr. has advised that we consider placing a trach, which is a device similar to the vent but it is a permanent placement as an alternative to the vent. I will spare everyone the details of how it is done and how it works, but most of you are familiar with what it means Im sure. She is very down and has not been writing much since Sunday morning...we are praying that she will become strong enough to take the next step in this fight, which is chemotherapy to treat her cancer. Through all of this I have learned to stop praying for what I want and to pray for the peace to accept whatever God has in store, that mom will be as comfortable and calm as possible and to thank Him for the mother that He gave me and for the time Ive had with her.She has certainly been a good one... Please continue to pray with us. Her procedure to place the trach will be at 9:30AM tomorrow. Many thanks to all who have called, come by, prayed, or thought of her during this time. We are still truly blessed.
