Update on Mom: She is in Neuro ICU at Harris Hospital, Fort Worth,Texas. Will start with positives... She is breathing on her own. She was able to swallow on her own today,so she will be able to have some fluids by mouth. She is able to nod yes or no to simple questions. She seems stronger and more alert today. Concerns...due to size of stroke, she does now have bleeding in that area of her brain. There is no way to downplay the seriousness of this medical event. The neurologist has relayed to me that this does not necessarily affect clinical outcome. As a medical person, I understand. As a daughter, of course it is scary. So I do ask for continued prayers and support. These first 72 hours are a critical time. Will keep you updated.
